Women Artists of the West

Women Artists of the West

Collarded LizardI’ve started a new series which blend impressionist design with realistic animals.  It has been many years since I have used a palate knife or done impressionistic paintings.  I got the bug a few weeks back.  The painting above features a collared lizard which is actually more colorful than this rendering.  They live in Arizona but I have never seen one on my adventures.  Some years back I determined to gain entry to the Women Artists of the West.  Since they often feature wildlife or landscape paintings in their National juried shows, my work was a perfect fit. Women Artists of the West have some of the highest rated women artists in the United States.  It took me ten years to be juried into their ranks.   For more information on their shows and paintings go to:  http://www.waow.org/ To look at my page in this organization please go to:  http://www.waow.org/members/assoc/CoenHeather/CoenHeather.shtml I am also one of the Women Artists of the West that has been selected to do commission work.  “Gold Threads” an 18 by 24 oil is my latest commissioned piece.  I’ve done wildlife, animals, still life and landscapes from your personal photos or helped clients select the best images for their homes.  Having been a commercial photographer for many years, I have an archive of over 20,000 images to select from.  I also am a member of Fine Art America with a separate webpage just dedicated to both my art and photography: http://heather-coen.artistwebsites.com/ Gold Threads oil painting.
